Social Media Joy
I found this post by Jay Baer about keeping your Social Media Joy in his newsletter. The post is from January, so the video is a little out of date. But the content is still good.
The joy is why I love helping people get started in social media. The excitement of the beginning, before they burn out on trying to become an expert or have a presence on everything. A good philosophy when you are starting out, that comes from Scott Stratten (@Unmarketing) is platforming. Pick a platform, and focus solely on that. Once you have “mastered” it, move onto something else. Not getting yourself overwhelmed is key to retaining your social media joy.
As Amber Naslund (@AmberCadabra) said in a tweet yesterday (about her career in social media), “My job – I should say, the entirety of my career – is pretty effing cool. Never a dull moment, that’s for sure.” And later, “BTW, if your career is NOT pretty effing cool, who’s in charge of that?”
