My Summer at SAS: Week 8

I first wrote this post for the SAS blog Conversations and Connections. SAS has been awesome enough to let me repost it here.

Week of August 2, 2010

(Monday, 8/2) Day 35:

It’s August. The last month of my internship. Don’t be too sad. We still have a couple weeks together.

(Tuesday, 8/3) Day 36:

Nick and I are famous. We (and our intern video) made it to the front page of the SAS Wide Web this morning.

Also today, I wrote a post about how Twitter helped rescue a triathlete when she crashed her bike in the woods. That’s incredible. Who would have thought a simple social network could do something like that?

(Wednesday, 8/4) Day 37:

MarketingProfs virtual conference today. 11:30-4:30. Today it’s all about social media. So I hope I learn something to help me get a job.

(Thursday, 8/5) Day 38:

I had lunch with DataFlux intern Meghan Prichard. She does social media too, and will be writing a post for the internal student blog next week. It was really great to see her again.

(Friday, 8/6) Day 39:

I have a brainstorming session at 1:30 with Kristine Vick to talk about engagement on the SAS Analytics Facebook page. I already have a couple ideas. I hope they’re good ones.

Weekly Recap:

This week has marked a milestone in my internship. On Monday, I finished putting all the information from the Social Media Directory on the SharePoint site. It’s not linked up to pages in the portal yet, but that’s just a small stepping stone before it’s live. The only other thing for that is the transfer of information from the Social Media Cookbook to the portal. Hopefully, it will all be ready to go next week.

I wrote the post about LinkedIn practices yesterday. I don’t know when it will be posted, but there’s a lot of information in there. It will be a good resource for the curriculum. Thanks to everybody on Twitter and LinkedIn who responded with tips!

Other than that, I’ve been working on getting all the official SAS Twitter accounts uniform and properly documented. There’s a lot involved in this process, especially since there are nearly 40 accounts. Also, I’m still in limbo waiting for my first video post to finish going through the process of preparing to go external. I can’t wait to post it here and on the student blog. Stay tuned…
