My Summer at SAS: Week 9
I first wrote this post for the SAS blog Conversations and Connections. SAS has been awesome enough to let me repost it here.
Editor’s [David B. Thomas] Note: They grow up so fast.
Week of August 9, 2010
Had a brainstorming/catch up session with Kristine Vick today to make the SAS Analytics Facebook page more effective and engaging. I had some pretty good ideas, if I do say so myself. (And I did.) Of course, so did Kristine. She’s good at her job. There might be a post from me on that to come.
(Tuesday, 8/10) Day 41:
I’m working on turning a white paper on IT Business Performance into an article. It’s a actually a pretty cool idea.
(Wednesday, 8/11) Day 42:
There’s a social media conference on Monday in Charlotte called Social Fresh. I’ll be writing some posts and shooting some video to promote the event day-of. I’ve contacted a couple presenters through Twitter about doing videos. So far, I have 3 confirmed.
(Thursday, 8/12) Day 43:
The post series of the UK students on the internal blog is still going strong. They sent me a lot of content. It’s awesome.
(Friday, 8/13) Day 44:
Today has been pretty productive. I finished the first draft of the white-paper-turned-magazine-article. And I also finished up a post on LinkedIn best practices. Expect to see that published soon—maybe even later today.
Weekly Recap:
With my internship up in just under three weeks, I’m getting a few extra projects to tide me over, but mostly trying to get my main projects completed. We’re still working on linking up the curriculum and directory to the portal. That should be done soon. I’ve gotten more documents from Dave that will need to be incorporated. Things like communicating with analysts and press, and responding to customer comments in social media. My job is to figure out where to insert them into the portal. I think I can handle that.
Other projects I will be working on include a post on using Google tools for the curriculum, continuing to publish posts by the UK (and other) students, a possible post on the SAS Analytics Facebook page, corralling the official SAS Twitter accounts and LinkedIn groups, and of course keeping you—my loyal reader—informed on the happenings of my work life. Don’t forget that I will also be posting daily to my professional blog, tweeting often, and regularly adding bits of social media wisdom right here on Conversations and Connections. Stick with me for the next 12 business days. We have precious little time together folks.
